Volunteers provide direct service to seniors in need of human connection. For that reason, we make every effort to make matches that are both compatible and helpful. All potential volunteers are interviewed and carefully screened then complete an orientation and training session prior to being matched with a senior. Once volunteers are matched with Friendly Visitor client, it is up to the volunteer and the client how much visitation goes on. Some volunteers visit their client once a week for an hour, some volunteers visit their client twice a week for two hours! Visits can include anything from gardening, to chatting, to playing board games. To become a Friendly Visitor volunteer, contact RSVP at 541-574-2684.
