Time well spent
Volunteers are like no other group, team, people I have ever met in my whole life. We are all ages, sizes, genders and background from all walks of life and lessons. No two of us are alike but we all have a focus, a line or a point to share or a contribution to add in time, talent and effort put forth. Some of us bring loyalty, experience, skills of business, kindness, planning, energy and smiles day after day, week after week, years fly by decade after decade to see the magic happen, to be part of the greater good, to accept a thank you and a warm feeling of a job well done…
Whether the group is large or small, climbing a ladder or rowing a boat, providing aid and comfort, inspection, waiting, or listening, responding to a call, email or note we find the time, resources and direction to make things better. Life is such a rich experience for all and offers the occasion to stop and look and examine events as we travel through time. Remembering how, when, where and who we cared about, knowing all along life’s winding rocky road there is a purpose to each day.
Be part of the exchange when offered a chance to risk making a difference as a volunteer. Given the chance to dream, to live, to love, to achieve if only for a second, for it is better to try and crash rather than to wait and never take a crack at volunteering.
Perhaps, all that remainds at the end of a day is the knowledge we gave the best attempt to lend a hand or watch the path taken with confidence a better tomorrow is just around the corner. I can help because somewhere at sometime, someone helped me. Thanks.
